Just like you, we are tinkers and hobbyists. With more than 25 years of experience breaking, fixing, upgrading, modifying, adjusting, and occasionally flying RC helicopters, all of us at Blade550XUpgrades.com have a passion for the hobby.
Always fascinated by new technology, and what it makes possible, we began to expirment with 3D printing. It didn't take long for idea to form that it might be possible to use this new technology to address some of the shortcomings in our favorite new helicopter, the Blade® 550X.
Out of the box, it's a very capable machine, and very complete. But still, it seemed to be lacking some finishing touches. For example, there is not a good way to mount the electronic speed controller (ESC) or the battery eliminator circuit (BEC). Those were the first items we addressed, then we started looking for ways to make it easier to assemble and fly on a day-to-day basis. This is where the idea for the satellite receiver mount and battery tray came from.
But the Blade® 550X and 600X aren't the only helicopters we fly, and aren't the only ones with room for improvement. We have since branched out and now produce parts and upgrades for the Align TRex 500 and 700 and the Mikado Logo 500 - with more on the way.
Most people are probably unaware of the amount of research and development that goes into developing a new product for market. There is much measuring, fitting, measuring again, design tweaking, and test fitting that must be done to ensure you produce a part that works as intended. Sometimes, and idea just won't work and you have to start all over again. That is the beauty of 3D printing. It's a very efficient way to experiment with a design and to work out problems as they arise. And to us, that's part of the fun!
We're always on the lookout for the latest technology, and what can be done with it. We're also interested in your feedback. If you have an idea for a new part or upgrade - or for an improvment to an existing one, let us know. If we put it into production, we'll give you the first one as a way of saying thanks!
Order Processing & Shipping
All orders are processed immediately upon receipt. Your upgrade parts are made to order and ususally ship within 24 hours of when the order is recieved and processed. During times of heavy order volume, there may be delays in shipping an order. If a delay is expected you will be notified of the delay via email.
We ship to any domestic US and most foriegn addresses using United States Postal Service Priority Mail. Most domestic shipments are delivered in 2-3 days and you will be provided with a tracking number upon shipment. Shipment to addresses outside of the US are typically delivered within 2 weeks, but may be delayed by customs. Other shipping arrangements are available if needed. If you require special shipping arrangements, please contact us prior to placing your order.
We make every effort to fill orders accurately and pack them carefully to avoid damage. If you discover a mistake in your order, or if an item is damaged in shipping, please contact us. We will file a claim on your behalf and arrange for a replacement.
